The Office of the Dean of Students is dedicated to the holistic development of students at Augusta University by providing support and advocacy. Our Office encourages and inspires students to meet their full potential and coordinates the multidisciplinary Campus Assessment Response and Evaluation (CARE) Team, which provides centralized support, guidance, and intervention for students in the areas of: food, financial, and emotional insecurities, medical and hardship withdrawals, mediation with fellow students, student conduct and behavior intervention, student concerns and complaints, and off-campus Housing.

Job Summary

The Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs Facilities is a strategic leadership position for the departments of Housing and Residence Life and the Maxwell Theater, as well as oversight for all student support facilities managed by the Division of Enrollment and Student Affairs. The AVP will play a key role in overseeing and enhancing vital services that contribute to a vibrant campus environment supporting student life and student success, while ensuring operational efficiency and financial sustainability. Reporting to the Associate VP & Dean of Students, the AVP for Student Affairs Facilities is responsible for providing strategic leadership, oversight, and management of the Maxwell Theater and all residence hall facilities and other housing facilities owned, managed, and/or operated by the University. The AVP will represent ESA on institutional committees and workgroups, working collaboratively with members of the university's senior leadership team and other university stakeholders. The AVP will play a vital role in oversight of Housing and Residence Life's emergency response plan and may serve as a first responder for the Division.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

STRATEGIC PLANNING & OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT DUTIES: Provide planning and coordination of the Housing & Maxwell Theater capital plans, projects, and renewal programs, and serve as liaison with University Facilities, University Foundation, and Corvias Property Mgmt. for maintenance, repair, and renovations for these faculties. Develop and implement strategic plans for Housing auxiliary services & the Maxwell Theater that align with the University's overall mission and vision. Lead directors in developing innovative programs and initiatives that enhance the student experience and promote student success. Develop and manage policies and procedures for the efficient operation of the portfolio. Work directly with the Division of Facilities Services & the University's P3 partner, Corvias Property Management, on matters pertaining to the physical upkeep and maintenance of all facilities in the portfolio. Provide strategic oversight of administrative systems associated with the University's Housing program.
Develop effective working relationships with campus partners such as, Enrollment Management, Campus Police, Dining Services, Health Services, Counseling Center, Dean of Students Office, Academic Deans, and various other campus partners to ensure collaboration at the highest level on all matters pertaining to the portfolio.

STRATEGIC PLANNING & OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT CONT: Communicate effectively with key stakeholders (students, colleagues, parents, vendors, etc.) to forward initiatives of the portfolio and respond to escalated issues from students, parents, vendors, and other campus partners. Manages confidential and sensitive issues and develops and recommends potential solutions to a wide range of issues in all areas of campus housing and for Maxwell Theater operations.

BUDGET MANAGEMENT AND FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILTY: Perform fiscal planning and budget review providing direct oversight for the formulation and administration of all aspects to departmental budgets and capital improvement funds, including policies and procedures related to revenue and expenditures. Develop statistical comparative analysis in support of approved and projected housing operation plans in achieving desired goals. Negotiate effectively for the University to ensure the best possible terms and results from contractors and vendors that provide the best possible services and opportunities for students and staff. Lead annual and multiyear project prioritization and planning; develop and review recommendations regarding short-term and long-range programs and projects, long-range financial and programmatic planning, and development. Research and develop new initiatives and use of technology to improve service, enhance revenue, and realize system-wide opportunities.

SUPERVISION AND MANAGEMENT: Provide direct supervision for the Director of Housing & Residence Life and the Director of the Maxwell Theater. Strategic and budget oversight; performance evaluations; support directors with employee relations issues; ensure operations of productivity and efficiency in department staff is maintained and improvements implemented as needed; provides direction in planning department initiatives and reaching department goals; hiring and retaining staff; and professional development of staff in the portfolio.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE MANAGEMENT: Assist the Executive Vice President and Associate Vice President in executing the University's emergency response plan and serving as a first responder for the Division. Position requires periods of on-call emergency coverage for the Division including evenings, weekends, and periods when classes are not in session. Provide on-site emergency preparation/response coverage as necessary. Serve as a principal liaison with University Campus Police on all matters of student life safety and serve on committees dedicated to emergency planning and preparedness.

OTHER DUTIES: Specific duties and responsibilities may vary depending on department needs without changing the general nature and scope of the job or level of responsibility. Employee may also perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and 7 years of progressively responsible experience in facilities management, or a related area.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous leadership experience in housing and residence life at a university. Knowledge and understanding of national practices and trends in on-campus housing, which affect higher education and student development.
Experience with housing partnership agreements.
Experience with occupancy and facilities use management.
Experience with university software application such as StarRez (university housing database); Peoplesoft Financials; and Banner.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday *Work outside of regular business hours may be required.

Pay Band: B17

Salary: $109,500 - $114,500

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
