Position Summary:
Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Billing Specialist for the Office of the Bursar.
The candidate would be expected to:
- Review and discuss student accounts with students and/or parents in person or over the telephone. Direct students on University payment policies. Assist with responding to emails and voicemail messages. Participate in general Bursar functions including, but not limited to, monitoring the retroactive registration procedure, distributing targeted and mass communications to students on behalf of the office, outreach to students at risk of cancellation, and cashiering functions.
- Process semester e-bills/statements to all students beginning with bill assessment by Bursar. Use and revise Entrinsik Informer reports to prepare batches of bills for upload through TouchNet. Revise various bill and system messages to reflect payment due date and any pertinent specific information i.e., reductions in aid, payment plan adjustments.
- Execute the schedule for monthly billing/outreach to students with outstanding balances. Track outstanding balances for potential graduates, continue collections efforts, and coordinate resolutions. Review payment plan reports and terminate plans for excessive delinquency. Conduct outreach to help mitigate the number of plans that become delinquent. Review current students' past due balances and coordinate transfers to Collections at end of terms as necessary.
- Perform all third party billing (preparing and distributing invoices, follow up on collection, posting to student account system). Code student accounts based on sponsorship agreement for tracking and billing purposes. Liaise with other University Offices to facilitate any other special billing arrangements such as those for veterans, students on reserve or active duty, Graduate Assistantship (GA) assignments, outside scholarships, etc.
This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate Degree in business, accounting, or related field
- Ellucian Colleague and TouchNet Bill and Payment software
- Experience running queries with Informer.
- Experience working in a professional business office or higher education.
