Description
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) Library seeks a dynamic candidate for a 12-month, tenure eligible position of Collections Management Librarian. This is a great opportunity for an early career professional interested in working in an environment that values a collaborative and iterative approach to work.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Department Head of Collection Services and working closely with the Director of Acquisitions and Content Management, the Collections Management Librarian provides leadership and operational oversight of the UTC Library's print and electronic collection in the areas of acquisitions and collection management and development to ensure access to a broad and wide collection of scholarly content.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop, establish, and apply selection and evaluation criteria to the acquisition, renewal, management, and assessment of print and electronic resources, including management and evaluation of trials;
- Maintain and manage access to print and electronic resources throughout their life cycle within library systems and collaborate with Library IT on troubleshooting access problems;
- Coordinate with the Director of Acquisitions and Content Management in acquisition, renewal, licensing, and pricing negotiations for subscription and other continuing resources and lead on monograph acquisition strategies;
- Develop, implement, and document workflows, policies, and practices related to acquisitions, electronic resource management, and collection management;
- Collect, analyze, and evaluate data in order to produce reports and recommendations for decision-making purposes;
- Coordinate with library and campus partners to optimize content exposure and awareness of the library's collection on campus;
- Build and sustain positive working relationships with library and campus colleagues, vendors, and external partners from diverse backgrounds;
- Actively participates in Acquisitions and Content Management meetings, planning, collaborative goal setting, and assessment;
- Conduct research, produce scholarship, and serve the library, university, and profession as consistent with a tenure-track appointment; and
- Maintain awareness and knowledge of current and emerging trends and practices in your area of focus including acquisition models and electronic resource management by engaging in continuing professional development.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in library or information science from an ALA-Accredited institution or an ALA-recognized/affiliated international institution completed by the time of appointment;
- Familiarity with the information lifecycle as it pertains to managing print and electronic resources;
- Ability to use and capacity to learn new software and information technologies to complete work, solve problems, and or improve a process;
- Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and creativity to manage routine work and projects independently and as part of a team within a complex organization and dynamic work environment;
- Strong attention to detail and the capacity to think analytically, solve complex problems, and address ambiguity; and
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications are not required, and the library is committed to helping our future colleague develop the following preferred skills:
- Working experience in a library or library consortia environment;
- Working experience using a library services platform like Alma, FOLIO, or WMS to complete acquisitions or resource management tasks and workflows;
- Demonstrated experience gathering, manipulating, interpreting, and reporting data;
- Experience mentoring or supervising employees (staff and or student assistants) in a library setting.

Compensation
Salary
The minimum annual salary is $56,000 commensurate with experience.

This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track position with faculty status and academic rank of Assistant Professor.
