Job Description
This position is the lead producer for all web-based, digital shows or any show including the Voice of the Vols. As the lead producer, this position will guide multiple weekly shows and their storylines while coordinating all guest appearance schedules and developing and editing content for each show. This position will communicate with the entire Broadcast team, VFL Films, 151 Creative, Media Relations, Fan Experience, Vol Network, and various sport team staff members to deliver dynamic shows and content. This position will also edit segments and create storylines for feature segments within the weekly shows. This position will communicate all show needs, arrange visits for outside guests, stay up-to-date on all technology and improvements being made in the industry. As a member of the VFL Films team, this position will help train and guide Tennessee students to build the premier student program in all college sports.
Responsibilities
Producer
- Produce and edit multiple shows weekly to enhance the brand and tell the stories of Tennessee Athletics.
- Work alongside the Voice of the Vols to decide coverage.
- Coordinate and schedule show guests, while developing and creating content to shape each show.
- Request and edit footage for clips to play throughout each show to enhance segments and overall production quality. This position must be able to handle a fast-paced, high-stress environment while communicating well with all groups. This position must stay curious and be ever-evolving in interview styles, setups, shoots and production of shows.
Organization & Scheduling
- Organize multiple shows at one time, create a guest schedule for each show, and communicate and coordinate appearances with all internal and external guests.
- Help the Voice of the Vols create dynamic interactions and unprecedented reach of the Tennessee brand.
- Organize equipment needs, schedules, editing needs, and coverage to provide best-in-class content.
- Work with Vol Network to fulfill and deliver all sponsorship goals.
Editing
- Master and continuously acquire skills related to editing techniques to provide best-in-class videos and creative content.
- Evolve in the approach to producing various content that relates to the Tennessee brand and other sports as needed.
- Create efficiencies and use an innovative approach with constant evaluation of videography.
Other duties as assigned.
- Provide creative solutions, innovative ideas, and a fresh approach to event coverage and storytelling within college sports.
- Adapt and remain flexible in high-energy situations, train and assist around the office as needed, work directly with Assistant AD on planning for equipment needs and budget strategy, and work directly with Voice of the Vols on various projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Education: Associate's degree
- Experience: 3 years of relevant work experience (internships, GA, post-grad positions included) with a collegiate sports program or a professional sports team.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Expertise & demonstrated knowledge in a variety of camera types and formats.
- Skilled in Adobe Creative Suite and other editing platforms.
- Expertise in sports cinematography and editing.
- Expertise and skill in content production.
- Expertise and ability in video production lighting including both studio and on-location lighting.
- Effective in managing media.
- Ability to remain calm, communicate & provide solutions to problems.
- Ability to collaborate and communicate across departments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree
- Experience: 5 years of experience working in an athletics department. Long-form and short-form editing experience.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Knowledge of studio and field audio acquisition.
