Job Description
The University of Chattanooga Foundation, Inc. invites applications and nominations to fill the position of Accounting and Business Operations Analyst. Reporting to the Associate Director of Accounting and Business Operations, the Accounting and Business Operations Analyst will provide support for accounting and business operations processes for the University of Chattanooga Foundation (UCF). This role will be responsible for the accurate entry and thorough review of payment requests for the UTC Advancement team; preparation and distribution of monthly budget reports; preparation of accounting workpapers for UC Foundation and CDFI; creation of gift related journal entries in UCF's financial system, FIMS; and analysis and entry of donor data pulled from CRM.


Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Financial and Budget Reporting: Ensure thorough and accurate receipt of gifts and checks, recording in accounting systems and creating deposits. Create and input operating GL entries to SAGE accounting system for business units/teams. Develop and prepare monthly operating budget reporting for UTC Advancement leadership and department heads, including tracking and coding expenditures. Assist with preparation of annual, semiannual, and ad hoc reports and audits for internal and external stakeholders.

Payment Services: Receive invoice requests; code, track, and enter into the UCF accounting system. Ensure proper documentation is submitted with all payment requests and review for fiscal policy compliance. Conduct systematic and independent examination of procurement card (p-card) statements to ensure charge and documentation compliance. Initiate ACH and check payments to vendors and advancement staff, recording data in banking portal.

Assurance Services: Prepare monthly reconciliation of UCF DASH operating account and reconciliation of UC Foundation treasury deposit bank accounts. Reconcile monthly budget reports with UCF accounting system. Reconciliation of housing general ledger in SAGE.

Data Analysis: Prepare Excel and PDF reports from data pulled from multiple information systems. Analyze donor and Alumni data. Assist with continuous improvements of system information.


Qualifications
Required Education and Experience

The candidate who fills the Accounting and Business Operations Analyst position is required to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in business or accounting field of study
  • 3+ years of professional budget/bookkeeping related experience
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite to include strong Excel experience
  • Ability to understand information systems (i.e., Oracle, Salesforce CRM, SAGE, and FIMS accounting systems)
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Able to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Able to apply judgement and reasoning to problem-solve and interpret policy and donor intent


Note - Candidates holding a graduate degree must have at least 1 year of experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

In addition to meeting the required qualifications, the preferred candidate will have:
  • 5+ years of professional budget/ bookkeeping related experience
  • University, governmental and/or endowment experience
  • Knowledge of accounting principles
