College/Department Information

The Institutional Review Board Office ensures the research goals of the Augusta University enterprise are met, while protecting human subjects involved in research and verifying the enterprise meets compliance standards. The IRB Office also serves as the central contact for facilitating the goals of the Enterprise Human Research Protection Program (HRPP). Our office provides: Administrative support for the internal IRBs and a liaison for the external IRBs; Monitoring and oversight for all IRB approved studies; Education and training for human research investigators, staff, and IRB members.

Job Summary

This is a non-supervisory, combination operations/budget/accounting-type position with responsibility for a specialized business services related to the primary operations of a designated department.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities to include but not limited to:

Provides critical financial analysis and tracking
Serve as liaison for all financial and personnel activities in relation to the Institutional Review Board Office i.e., contracts, service agreements, educational development, travel, and faculty research effort, using financial forecasting strategies and proactively managing all assigned accounts.
Prepare information for ePARs to be submitted as action is identified.
Review department expenses, quarterly effort reports and pre-review for issues or concerns.

Communicate with faculty and staff to complete effort reports.
Review/approve department finances.
Review/approve requisitions for office supplies and other special orders; ensuring all purchases follow state and institutional requirements; monitoring open encumbrances for purchase orders to ensure they are closed in a timely manner.
Process travel by reviewing/approving expenditures for all travel authorizations and travel expense statements.
Prepare and work with the Budget office on the annual Budget for the Institutional Review Board Office.

Work closely with the Director of Human Research Protections and present department budget for discussion during meetings.

Operations
Assist Director of Research Business Operations and the Director of Human Research Protections with decisions as needed.

Review and approve leave requests in OneUSG.
Work closely with staff in completing/reviewing/processing various forms (ePARs, add/change forms for faculty and staff, faculty worksheets, Authorizations to Budget, Budget Amendments, etc.).
Complete annual equipment, computer, and space inventories.

Oversee aspects of faculty and staff recruitment including but not limited to participating in onboarding and completing required paperwork.

Research
Serve as back up IRB Analyst for Human Subjects Determinations, Annual reports, Amendments and Personnel Changes.
Coordinate Monthly IRB Leadership and IRB Office Staff Meetings to include agenda and minutes creation.
Assists in the development and upkeep of training records and guidance for the research community.
Coordinate IRB Meetings for internal IRB's to include hosting and navigating during meetings.
Order supplies and maintain spreadsheets for supplies and IT inventory.
Create, manage and follow up on requisitions.
Schedule travel, meetings and conferences for the IRB office staff.
Maintain and distribute stipend information for IRB Committee Members.

Coordinate Administrative Activities associated with the IRB
Serve as alternate point of contact for CITI questions when Training Coordinator is unavailable.

IRB Minutes
Distribute IRB Minutes to AU and CNVAMC stakeholders.

Performs related work
Performs related work as required.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business administration or related discipline from an accredited college or university and one year of administrative and/or management experience.

OR

Associates degree from an accredited college or university and two years of relevant experience.

OR

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization and three years of administrative and fiscal management experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities



Knowledge of and direct experience in financial and budgetary practices, fiscal data administration as well as compliance and records management. Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.

SKILLS

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Excellent customer service, interpersonal, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.

ABILITIES

Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines despite often interruptions, maintain confidentiality, keep accurate records and make independent decisions.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required).

Salary Range: $52,500-$66,152 annually.

Pay Band: B10

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.

Conditions of Employment
