Salary Range: $41,447 per year

Essential Job Functions:
1. Services and maintains refrigeration, heating, and air conditioning systems by determining malfunction and replacing or repairing defective parts or components.
2. Installs new window or wall air conditioning units or removes and replaces existing units as required. Troubleshoots and makes necessary repairs, replaces compressors, fan motors, and charge units. Services and repairs air compressors.
3. Performs preventative maintenance on heating and air conditioning systems and other campus appliances and equipment.
4. Changes filters on air conditioners; performs plumbing and electrical repairs on heating and air conditioning and other mechanical systems as required.
5. Operates and maintains any other mechanical systems or equipment on campuses and assists in plumbing installations.
6. Performs other work found in the maintenance technicians classification as required.
7. Performs other related duties as assigned.


Required Minimum Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Experience in one or more of the following fields: heating and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, and/or temperature control systems.

Required License/Certification:
Must possess a valid Driver's License.
Refrigerant Recovery Certification

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of all types of heating and air conditioning systems, plumbing, electronic, electrical, and temperature control.

Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work.

Ability to read, interpret, and work from blue prints, wiring diagrams, specifications, and operating manuals.

Knowledge of construction, assembly, adjustment, and maintenance of a wide variety of equipment.

Knowledge of all types of shop tools, meters, and other required equipment used in the trade.

Knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and tools commonly utilized in the repair and services of refrigeration equipment.



General Working Conditions:
This job operates in a professional office environment and throughout the College's worksites and grounds. Within the professional office environment, the employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the office work environment is usually quiet and occasionally moderate. While operating outside of the office environment, the employee may be exposed to elements including but not limited to wet/humid weather, extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and unpleasant odors. The role may also involve hazards or physical risks, which require comprehending and following basic safety precautions and may require Personal Protection Equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.

Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to remaining stationary, moving, ascending/descending, positioning self, reaching, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-100 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.

Job Specific Working Conditions:
The College anticipates that the person filling this position will need to be available throughout the workday and, on some occasions, after regular work hours.
